Gambling III – different kinds
Gambling has always been associated with a tendency of getting rich quick. While there is a great number of choices and variations of casino games at disposal of players intending to lay wagers and make a winning, there are some forms of betting which are distinctly detached from a casino culture and yet assumes popularity among gamblers with attractive odds and payouts.
One such example of a gambling game is fixed odds gambling and Parimutuel betting associated with sporting events. Moreover some bookmakers offer betting on non-sports related events too and gamblers who are ready to lay a wager on movement of financial indices or on winner of television competitions like Big Brother can avail of the opportunity. Parimutuel betting is a kind of sports betting and is largely associated with horse racing and greyhound racing activities where the money of the bettors are either added into a pool and payouts happen according to wagers or managed by bookmakers who pay the odds offered at the time of bet or just before the start of race.
Another form of gambling is betting on whether a particular event will happen at a stipulated time or when two persons have opposing views and are ready to lay bets on their statements or claims being true. A case in point is portrayed in the famous Jack London novel ‘Call of the Wild’ where the dog Buck’s master claims that his pet can break a frozen sled loaded with heavy sacks all by himself and pull it through a distance.
There have been several staking systems that are practiced, card counting and martingale being two very popular strategies. While the former is used for card gambling games, the latter is a system in which the bettor continues to stake till he wins and the money he wagers every time is just enough to recover the losses of the previous losses.
